Doctor Christa D. Pietrzyk was born and raised in a small town in Iowa, where her passion for Optometry began. She graduated first in her class from Oskaloosa Sr. High School and went on to study cell and molecular biology at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University in 2002. Then she completed a postgraduate optometric residency program focused on the treatment and management of ocular disease at Bascom-Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida.
Upon completion of her residency, Dr. Christa accepted a position with Koby Karp Doctors Eye Institute in Louisville, Kentucky. It was at this time that she became an InfantSEE provider and an active member of the American Optometric Association. In 2005, Drs. Jeff and Christa moved to Manhattan, IL. Dr. Christa spent 10 years of her career as an employee of a large OD/MD practice, compassionately serving patients in the greater Chicagoland area. Then, in 2016, with the addition of the Peotone office, she joined the Illinois Eye Associates clinical team. She is currently an active member of the Illinois Optometric Association.
Drs. Jeff and Christa have three adolescent boys. They enjoy being involved in their children's academic and extracurricular activities while balancing their commitment to their community. They have been active parishioners at St. Joseph Church in Manhattan since 2005. Dr. Christa served on the Lincoln Way Foundation Board from 2007 to 2012. She now spends time supporting the various sports teams her boys play for. Illinois Eye Associates is a member of the Manhattan and Peotone Chambers of Commerce.
In her spare time, Dr. Christa enjoys running, hiking, reading, and spending time with her family. She is truly blessed to have a career that she is passionate about, along with a good balance in life.
