Dr. Jeff Pietrzyk was born and raised in the south suburbs of Chicago. He graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He later earned both a Bachelor of Science in Visual Science and his Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry in 2001. Following graduation, he completed an optometric residency in ocular disease at the prestigious Bascom-Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida.
After completing his residency, Dr. Jeff accepted a position with Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers in Louisville, Kentucky, where he gained extensive experience managing complex ocular disease cases and caring for surgical pre- and post-operative patients. Dr. Jeff is a member of the Illinois Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.
In 2006, Dr. Jeff and his wife, Dr. Christa Pietrzyk, also an optometrist, founded Illinois Eye Associates. The couple moved to Manhattan, Illinois, in December 2005 and has remained actively involved in the communities they serve.
Dr. Jeff has dedicated many years to community service. In 2006, he was elected to the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and served as President during the 2008–2009 term before stepping down in 2011. In 2007, he was appointed to the Manhattan School District 114 Board of Education and was later re-elected to a four-year term in 2009. He served as School Board President for the final two years of his term, then resigned after the 2012–2013 school year to focus on his patients and his growing family. In addition, he served on the Parish Finance Council at St. Joseph for 3 years.
Dr. Jeff continued his community involvement through youth sports, serving as a coach, administrator, and eventually President of the Manhattan Patriots youth football program until 2025. Today, he continues to give educational lectures to peers and those interested in the profession. He divides his time between caring for patients and his family, while continuing to grow the practice he and Dr. Christa built together.
